just pasta-ing the time

it's my mom's last couple of days of vacation, so we celebrated by making fresh pasta! she gave me a pasta attachment for my kitchen-aid a couple years ago, but i never got around to using it. goodness, pasta-making...what a process. it was fun, though. we: made whole-wheat dough, ran it through the flat press on three different settings to get it thin enough, then ran it through the fettucini cutter. we decided against laying the noodles out to dry. instead we opted for the bird nest method. i was pretty nervous...the nests seemed a bit dodgey. i thought they would dry in lump form, then go ahead and cook into a bunch of lumps, but it worked out. they separated once they got into the boiling water. we only made one recipe worth, which claimed "one pound." maybe one pound on mercury! it made a ton of pasta! good thing...i was thinking of doubling the recipe, but decided not to. looks like we'll have a whole wheat (week) o' pasta! next on the pasta experiment list: tortellini.

hi-hi birdies

heya birdies! wow, its been so long since my last post! mostly because i haven't been doing anything crafty lately, so i don't really have anything to share...but i'm hoping to get inspired and start up a new project soon.

i must say, wedding season has definately arrived! it seems like we've been having wedding showers, invitations, ceremonies, receptions, and the like, so frequently the last couple months...so the one thing i have being doing is card making. good thing i got a cake die set for my quick kutz! it sure has been coming in handy! well, i guess the above picture is a tribute to all the love birds we've been celebrating. i saw the birds cuddling and it was just too cute to pass by without a quick snap. unfortuante that by the time i busted out my camera, they weren't cuddling quite as much...so much for a "quick snap." oh well, they're still cute.
